Week Two

“If you want to get to know someone, find out what makes them angry.”

This marks the end of the second week in Operating Systems! Man I’m so glad to be done with the second week.

With the 4th of July weekend, it feels like this week has flown by super fast. This weekend we’re also dog sitting my boyfriend parents’ french bulldog so we have four dogs in the apartment right now. Luckily they all get along and keep themselves busy!!

This week in OS, I particularly felt like I was struggling a bit, but I do think I learned a ton about processes.

So first, a process is a running program that consists of the memory and the registers. An Operating System provides process abstraction. Processes can be created in two ways, during system initialization and during a process system call. There are a few different states of a process, running, ready, blocked, new, and dead.

That’s all for now. I have a trip this week to Seattle, that I need to finish packing for. Wish me luck and safe travels!!!
